Port Orange is a pine town in a lot of places. The subdivisions built out through Countryside, Sugar Forest and Summer Trees kept a lot of the original slash pine, and thirty years on those pines are tall, shallow rooted and standing very close to houses that were built after them.
That combination is most of what we get called for here. A pine that has started to lean, a pine that dropped a top in a storm, or a homeowner who has finally decided the four pines over the roof are not worth the anxiety every hurricane season.
Pines do not shed weight gracefully. They snap. A pine with a dead top or a fresh lean near a structure is the most common genuine emergency we see in Port Orange.
Out toward Spruce Creek the soil stays wet and root plates suffer for it. Lean assessment matters more here than almost anywhere else in the county.
Newer Port Orange lots are close together with fences, pools and screen enclosures. Most of our removals here are sectional rigging rather than open drops.
