Tree Service in DeLand, FL

DeLand has the oldest and best tree canopy in the county. Most of what we do here is keeping those trees standing rather than taking them down.

Local knowledge

What we see on DeLand properties.

The oaks through DeLand's historic district and around the Stetson campus are the kind of trees you do not replace in a lifetime. Some of them predate the houses they shade. Work on a tree like that should be conservative, and anyone who quotes you a hard cutback on one is telling you something about how they work.

DeLand is inland, so the salt problems drop away and the soil holds differently than it does on the coast. What you get instead is age. Older trees mean more deadwood, more cavities and more decisions about whether a limb can stay.

Conditions here

The trees that cause problems in DeLand.

01

Century-old live oaks

Big old oaks carry deadwood and hollow sections that are not automatically fatal. Knowing which cavity is structural and which is cosmetic is the whole job.

02

Historic district constraints

Working around historic properties means protecting more than the lawn. We rig to keep weight off roofs, porches and original landscaping.

03

Inland soil and drought stress

DeLand trees see real dry stretches. Drought-stressed oaks drop limbs without warning, and summer limb drop is more common here than people expect.

“I have been a loyal customer from this companies inception and have recommended their ‘Elite’ service to friends over the years. Their pricing in my opinion is fair. Damien has been very respectful and his crew has impressed me time and again not only with the service they provide, but the clean-up as well. I will continue to call and recommend them for future service.”

“The Elite Tree Care of Florida did a fantastic job from shaping our huge camphor tree, the speed of getting the job done, and clean up in the backyard, side yard, my driveway and the street was clean like they were never there. I would highly recommend Elite Tree Care of Florida for any tree work.”

Common questions

Tree service in DeLand, answered.

My old oak has a hollow trunk. Does it have to come down?

Not necessarily. Plenty of hollow oaks are structurally sound because the strength is in the outer wood, not the center. What matters is how much sound wood is left and where the cavity sits. That is an assessment, and we would rather do it than guess you into a removal.

Do you work around the historic district rules?

Yes. We will tell you what is likely to need approval before you spend money on a plan that will not get signed off.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes, fully licensed and insured with liability and workers compensation coverage. We will hand you the certificate before work begins if you ask for it.

Is the estimate really free?

Yes, and there is no obligation to book. We come out, walk the property, and give you a fixed price in writing that does not change on the day of the job.
